Super Mario Bros. 2 is an iconic side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Nintendo for their Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console. Released in 1988, this game is the second installment in the Super Mario series and radically differs from its predecessor. Unlike other Mario games where players squash enemies, in Super Mario Bros. 2, players defeat opponents by picking them up and throwing them off screen. Besides Mario, it introduces three additional playable characters - Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach, each with unique abilities.
