Wizards & Warriors II: Ironsword is a sequel to the action-adventure game Wizards & Warriors, released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989. Developed by UK-based studio Rare and published by Acclaim, Ironsword pits players once again in the role of brave knight Kuros, on a quest to defeat the evil wizard Malkil. Gameplay involves platform-style exploration across four elemental-themed realms (earth, wind, fire, and water), battling monsters, collecting treasures, and solving puzzles with the ultimate goal of retrieving the pieces of the magical Ironsword. The game features RPG-like elements such as leveling up, new weapon collecting to boost Kuros' power, and interacting with non-playable characters. Ironsword stands out thanks to its challenging gameplay, strategic boss fights, and atmospheric music scores.
